I'm a bit confused
So, while I was reading the first assignment I noticed that when Paul Ongtooguk listed the 13 Regional Corporations, he listed Tanana Chiefs Conference as one of the regional corporations. That took me back a little because 1. TCC is a non-profit corporation, correct? And 2. Doyon is not listed either. So is this a mistake on Mr. Ongtooguk's part or is there something that happened since then that has changed?

I have done a bit of research on the Tanana Chiefs Conference. It was one of the Native groups that formed the AFN, led by Ketzler. After ANCSA, the Tanana Chiefs Conference set up Doyon as its Profit-making corporation, and then set itself up as a non-profit corporation.
ReplyDeleteI have been to a meeting of the TCC about education last year in middle school. it was very long and frankly long-winded, but the basic idea behind the meeting was to educate the people in the bush about some of the problems and new programs in education.
If you want to see more, go to http://tananachiefs.org/corporate/history_tcc.shtml
ah ok that makes sense i never understood that either but thank you "Me aka I" for clarrifying that. and you even left an address to go to that was also helpful.
ReplyDeleteSo TCC and Doyon are basically the same business? I looked at the site down where it mentions them establishing Doyon as their for-profit corporation and I found it really cool that they did that so that people in the TCC region could also receive health and social services programs. That's a corporation that really wants the best for its people I think.
ReplyDeleteWow I'm learning so much from this! It's very helpful of "Me aka I" to leave the link so everyone else to check it out.
