Earths Evolution

This subject The Evolution of Earth has made me think hard of the posibilities of life on other planets and the power thats obtainable through higher science. The things that earth has gone through to get to the point we're at is extraordinary. From all the disasters and being at the right distance from our sun is against the odds. Even with having the right size of a sun we are lucky. Where we begin from the Big Bang Theory even that is an awesome unattainable power and with that makes me believe that anything is possible. The amount of force and energy to do that we wouldnt be able to recreate. Even the thought of trying to mess with that kind of force and power scares me. Mankind in my mind was lucky in so many ways to get to this point of evolution. Through all this with the amount of galaxies out there and the amount of stars in them I do believe with the odds there is a planet with life on it. Though with all our advances in technology discovering them were running out of time. As the galaxies move away from each other at the speeds there moving we dont stand a chance. Our technological development is the problem with our inability to search at a faster rate. Although we can and are searching the universe for life, we like the odds of our existance is unreachable. We would need to stop their movement to be able to search everyone with the amount of galaxies and stars in them.

  1. i have to completely agree with you Peersy these are almost my exact thoughts as i was watching the videos and after while at home. we as a whole are unfathomably lucky to have all of this happen. and yes mankind is relativly slow at developing new technologies. and i do strongly believe that we cant be the only intelligant life out there.

  2. I agree that we're extremely lucky to have this chance at life, but I also disagree and agree in a sense, at the same time, that we're not the only planet out there with life. We may not have been the first form of life, there may have been thousands of other planets thriving with life as we are now years, more than we can easily fathom, before us. But that would depend on how long ago the Big Bang happened, if the Big Bang happened at all. I think it did, as it is the best explanation I've seen so far as to how we ended up here. I do agree that there is a possibilty that we're, currently, the only "living," by human standards, thing out there in the universe at this time. Although, whether there is even more advanced life out there, less advanced life, life that is only JUST starting, or no life out there yet, I do strongly believe that it is IMPOSSIBLE for the universe to go on forever, FOREVER, a never ending time, without creating an event much like the one that created Earth. How is it that, with an infinite amount of time, things wuldn't start to repeat themselves? Perhaps in different orders, or that vary in some way, but how is it possible for things not to repeat themselves when you have an infinite amount of time? With only so much "somethings." Although the universe is huge, and it was demostrated in class, just how huge a mere inch of substance is, but there is only so much out there, eventually, things will repeat themselves, and I strongly believe that, especially since I can't see a reason that they couldn't or wouldn't repeat themselves. So life will, inevitably, continue to thrive on at least one planet, one meotorite, one...something, when Earth is finally destroyed.

  3. I think that it is hard to find life for more than one reason: One, we are just a blink ourselves, and have only been taming earth for 0.01 or so amount of human history, which is 0.0000001 or so amount of time for total history. I do not think that the galaxies are moving too fast for us to not be able to observe life. Also, if there is life out there as intellegent than we are, aren't they searching for us?
How many planets are there almost like earth, but lacking in one thing such as it is too small? how many places are there that complex life DID exist? CAN exist? WILL exist? How many "failed earths" are out there?

  4. I agree with you Jonah. I definitely believe that there is other life out there in the universe. With 2 x 2^23 stars out there, there has to be another planet that was lucky enough to have oxygen and water. Or maybe completely different elements but managed to survive and evolve into complex organisms. We would need such advance technology to even see these galaxies that are moving a light year away from us each hour. I doubt that we would find another Earth like us.

  5. I don't know whether or not we will ever find another planet with life out there, I think it depends on how fast our technology advances and how much longer humans have on Earth themselves. I don't agree with Jonah that there is life out there as intelligent as us looking for us as well. For one, with the size of the universe so far, it is still unlikely that a planet with complex life is out there, but the possibility that there will never be another planet out there without life is superficial and not thought through in my opinion, in other words: dumb. Now, a planet with life other than Earth could've existed before even Earth, or will after Earth, or maybe currently while Earth too exists. But the likelihood that another planet out there has life at the same time Earth does with the same intelligence as people on Earth is.... miniscule to me. How likely is it really, that another planet developed life with our intelligence at the same time? or that we developed quick enough to catch up with the other species or visa versa. Now, maybe there's even smarter life out there, that maybe has or hasn't found us yet, or maybe there is life that is only at its beginning stage, only just starting to exist and has yet to be anywhere as smart as we are now. That is more likely in my opinion.

  6. I also agree with Peersy, we should be thanking the earth for what it has brought us. Im not saying lets all go hug a tree, But it didn't take a couple hours to create what we have now. We shouldn't be hurting this planet that took Billions of years to create. I also agree that there should be life on other planets, there are like a billion other galaxies out there. If earth was created in one galaxy it shouldn't be difficult that there just might be that possibility that there is other living life out there. With the technology we have today we should be half way there to having the answers to our questions. But the galaxy is just as big and does take time. So we shouldn't rush anything.
